Thread size for AIR hookup
Re: Thread size for AIR hookup
What year is your car? The stock AIR tube thread sizes are different on the single-cat and dual-cat cars.
Might want to add a "signature" with year of car, tranny type and any major mods, to help people give you the correct info.

Re: Thread size for AIR hookup
i bought a set of used edlebrock headers for my 97 a few yrs ago, and apparently they were off a different year car, mine is a 97 and 97's have a different thread that any other years. i took the header to every place in town, even drove up into st. louis to an industrial place that makes pipe fittings and they said they couldn't do it. just call the manufacturer of the headers.
Re: Thread size for AIR hookup
If he's plugging up the openings in the headers, he's going to have to look at the headers first. The 93-95 single cat manifolds (and most headers made for those cars) use a thread that can be plugged with the M22-1.5mm oil drain plugs. Its not an exact fit, but its pretty close, and will seal when you include a thin copper washer. The 96/97 (and 95 CA emissions A4) dual-cat setups used a smaller thread size, and I *think* its roughly an M18.
While most headers use a thread similar to the manifolds they are replacing, not all do. Some actually have male threads on the headers and require a cap, not a plug. Others will use the M22's on dual-cat headers and require that you use an adapter. Varies from header to header. I can tell you my AS&M single-cat headers, and my earlier JBA single-cat headers had threads that accepted the M22 plugs, and sealed well.

Re: Thread size for AIR hookup
The headers are pacesetters if that helps and if not thanks anyways. And I am looking for a cap not a plug, maybe I'll just haul the header down to the hardware store and start trying caps. Thanks

Here's what your looking for:

Except, I think it's a -10 AN you need. That's what I used on my SLP's when I had them on my SS. They won't stay blue for long, but that's ok. They're here:
