Thoughts on SUPERRAM
what are your thoughts on the superram intake?
"The SuperRam manifold base was designed by John Lingenfelter in 1990 to increase power on the L98 TPI engine from 1600 RPM to redline. Engineered to boost air velocity and improve the charging effect of the cylinders this combination was unbeatable.
This intake was later redesigned for the LT1 Corvette, Camaro, Firebird and Impala engine packages. This design was a milestone for the LT1 and took advantage of the new improved cylinder head design to make more usable torque than the LT1 or TPI's Mini Ram intake. This intake manifold will increase torque and will make your car faster than a comparable built LT1 or Mini ram equipped vehicle hands down. "

there the base, then you still need the plenum n such

sure, its pricey, but if $$ is no option, is it worth it?

I don't see that intake working on an LT1 (if it is the one in the picture).
It has a distributor hole and is a wet intake.
EDIT: they used the L98 base pictures for both items.

Here are my thoughts on the Super Ram and not including mounting it to the LT1 which can be done with $$$$$. The original Accel TPI style intake manifold was not bad.
They are now using the Edelbrock version and I don't how long that has been going on but the runner design is not quite as good as the original Accel intake manifold. The cross sectional area right behind the injectors is around 1.7 CSA. I don't know what the LT1 intake manifold CSA is. Also the runner entry into the head is not quite as good as the original design. All this can be corrected with $$$$.
The advantages to the Super Ram would be you could tune the intake runner length to pick up the third harmonic wave at a lower rpm. You would also pick up torque in the lower rpm ranges. It would take some work but it could be done. Just money.

Its a pc. of junk......(not really) but the LT1 intake will make more power.
John wrote a book on SBC builds and mods.....he has that intake on a 94 bird in that book and explains how it works. Things are light years ahead of what they were back then......
I would do some more homework......people in the past 5 years or so have made huge gains running factory stuff.
