Thoughts on Aluminum Flywheels?

Was wondering how much of an improvement, if any would this be? Would this allow more power to the wheels? Thanks.

I thought I read it will give some gain but at the same time makes the car harder to drive, especially if the flywheel is superlight.

Yeah what he said, it will rev unbelievably quicker, but inertia helps a ton with our heavyass cars. An aluminum flywheel is good for a civic or some other 2000lb car. You will notice a gain at higher rpms like the engine just wants to redline quicker, but id stick with either steel or billet steel. For example, stock is like 39lbs, SLPs is like 32lbs, fidanza aluminums are either 17lbs or 17lbs lighter dont remember. If you have a heavy clutch you will appreciate the inertia from a heavier flywheel, just imagine if they made a clutch that handle 2000hp, id imagine thats what it would feel like.

My steel Street Twin weighs a TON and a half, and I noticed no difference in how fast it wants to rev from the stock clutch.

Food for thought...

You know how much heavier, besides a ton and a half? Cuz i definitely noticed at least a slight increase in how fast it revved with 7 lbs lighter? Maybe if you have a bunch of power it doesnt notice the difference in the heavier one.

The reason I asked is because I'm actually involved with another thread in the forum about 390HP 03 Cobra's which come with an aluminum flywheel. I was just curious about them. Thanks guys.

Yeah Right, , this guy got both fenders, that's what FedEx told me, and he got the bumper cover too. Just what he paid for. He's just trying to get some money off of me, trying to pass as a local detective! HaAhAhAHa

I wouldn't rip anyone off here, just like I wouldn't wanna get ripped off neither. Nuff said, stop because you're not getting any money from me. I said I was gonna refund you SOME money because I honestly thought you didn't get a package, but you did! And why'd you switch screen names for anyways?

jeez, i just had to post that the stock LT-1 flywheel is 22.5 lbs.

the SLP lightweight billet steel flywheel is 13 lbs.

and yes, it is harder to launch, but way fun revving up and slowing down

the vettes had 30+ lbs flywheels

also: don't know who's lying, but lying is a weakness of character

Just got off the phone with detective Beavers. He is mailing me paperwork to read over and fill out so we can go ahead with filing criminal charges against you. You're welcome to call him yourself if you think I am lying. 419-254-8974. So, you can either refund me now or I am going ahead and filing charges.

Have a good one!!!

Hey dudes, how much money is this over, were all friends here, no need to get **** about this, its obviously a complete mixup when one party thinks that it was delivered and another party thinks it wasnt. Unless hes being a complete ******* to you and didnt send you anything and this is over like $20000 then its not a big deal, he even said he is still going to refund some of the money since he thoght the package really didnt come. If this is over a bumper which is, hmm on ebay like $150 then settle, you guys completely ruined this post. just my thoughts.

You OBVIOUSLY do not know the story. This has been going on for 4 months and he is blatantly trying to con me. It was $450.
Obviously I did not get what I paod for or I would not be complaining. D@mn, people, use common sense!!!

It's about to be solved though. Criminal charges will be filed soon

No need to get "****"?? Well, let me rob you of $450 and see how you like it!!!
