For those of you with cutouts

I just got a cutout installed on my car last week and I loved it. I have otherwise stock exhaust besides the cut out. I have it a few feet before it goes over the axle. It was so loud and had a great tone to it the whole first weak. Now, it seems to have quited down a ton. I think it is just barely louder than stock exhaust now, and I am kind of upset. Maybe I just got used to it, but my friends noticed it too. I also have some rattles with my exhaust now. So I was wondering why isn't it as loud as before, and what can I do to get rid of the rattles?

Maybe you should get under the car and make sure it's opening up all the way.

Re: For those of you with cutouts

It is common to get extra interior noise and rattles with the cutout. It is the consequence of bypassing the muffler. As for the noise level getting dimmer, maybe you started to adjust to it. When I first got my car it had the cutout already installed. I thought it was the loudest thing at first but after awhile it started to sound dull.

It should be open all the way because its not electronic, I just have to take the whole cap off. And I hope it's just me getting used to it, instead of it somehow getting quieter. Can something cause it to get quieter?

Mine's the same way, seems to be getting quieter, but I have an electric one and when I start to think my cutout is quiet, I close it and realize how much louder it actually is.

I do the same thing. If you really think is it quieter try closing it for a day and driving around that way, then open it up agian and it will sound louder than ever. The same thing happend to me when I put my cutout on, I got used to it, then I went on a road trip so I closed it and if sounded so quiet then I opened it back up when I got back home and it was louad as hell agian

You just got used to it, thats all. It only took me about 4 days to get used to mine. Novelty wears off fast on these things..... But I still love mine.

Yeah, I "adjusted" to it as well. Drive around with it closed for a little bit... it's weird... you can actually hear your passengers

The same thing happened with my music, but there's no way I'm paying for sound that isn't associated with "vroom vroom"

Same here, when I first got it installed I thought it was loud as hell, after a couple days it got quiter(or I got used to it). Also the tone changed a bit, Im guessing its just the PCM adjusting to less restriction.
