Question Those who've replaced the IAT

Which end did you buy? The male or female part?

I went to Autozone and I was given a "Wells" Temp sensor part #SU176, which is the receiving end but it has this brass fitting that doesn't look like the plastic one that is on my 1LE elbow.

So do I get the plug in part that has the wires attached?

Never mind this post. I decided I won't replace it since my intake elbow is only a few months old.

I'm just trying to find out what could be causing my idle surging.

you're talking about the coolant temp sensor not the IAT. Freaking Autozone idiots. I hate Autozone. But have to shop there

The "Wells" Temp sensor part #SU176, while made of brass, fit perfectly in my 1LE intake elbow. As it is installed in a plastic part, there isn't anything but possibly nearby coolant hoses to conduct extra heat to the brass housing, so it should work just like the plastic piece it replaced. BTW, this is the exact part that cured my low-RPM, low-load stumble.

Ladys Ladys calm down. I think he is just confused sir....

I have purchased both. The Engine Coolant Temp and the IAT.

They both have brass in them. When I first saw my new IAT at Napa I straight out told the lady it was the wrong part... She doubled checked and she had the right part... I removed my OEM part and compared it side by side with the new part...

Even though I am familiar with the new part being manufactured with Brass in it.... I too. thought he was referring to the Engine Coolant Temp.

Just cut him some slack there... we all make mistakes. Specially me. "Cant we all get along?" (rodney king after 5 cops went on a negro beating spree on him in California).

Well guys,
I ended up returning that part. I was trying to fix my idle surge. Well, I bought a new filter and guess what!?!? The surge is gone My car feels so much smoother now, I'm not used to this. My car is about to push 100,000 miles and the old fuel filter was damn near black inside. My point is, replace that fuel filter, it may save you all some money.

You've got to be freakin kidding me Who the hell crawled up your skirt and dubbed thee? Wow, I guess I should feel special since you have 5 posts and decided to make one of those this one. Listen numb-nutz, if you're gonna call someone out like you have above. Make sure that you have contributed atleast an ounce of knowledge to the board first... Let me guess you work for Autozone or something?

The freakin nerve.....

Let's see. I'm the one of the guys who posted that replacing the IAT might cure the stumble, as it did on my Z, so I think I've met the ounce requirement.

No, I don't work for Autozone, but my local store has good people who have been helpful. I'm also not the one who first threw out "freaking idiot."
