those with svo injectors, HELP!
Hi,
I just installed my 30lb svo's and I need a couple of questions answered.
1. I noticed that there are two slits in the top of the injector but the clip on a 95z only slides into the top slit, Is this ok, I dont want my injectors to leak gas!
2. There is a greyish colored cap on the bottom end of the injector, (where it slips into the intake manifold)
I just want to make sure that it is supposed to stay on, It looks like it is supposed to be on it all the time, Just making sure its not just a temp cap for shipping or something. I am not talking about the clear plastic caps that come off i.e. for shipping, I am talking about the grey ones that look like they are actually part of the injector.
Thanks!
Chris..

I got mine from sumitt, they have a red top half, then the lower half is black, Then the end tip is greyish that slides into the manifold, I already have them on the car or I would take a pic with my camera.

Chris...
You don't need the clips. They merely keep the injectors in the fuel rail when/if you remove the rail from the intake manifold. They aren't needed to hold the injectors in while the manifold is on, as torquing down the fuel rail bolts is all that's needed.
As for the gray cap... hm, take a look at the bottom of the injector. Can you see little dots/holes like a screen (where the fuel sprays out)? If not, chances are that cap needs to be taken off.

I didn't use the clips either. I felt better with the injector seated in the fuel rail. Like said they're not going to go anywhere. As mentioned the little gray cap is part of the injector and is where the fuel is injected from.

Hmmm, I have the same ones from Summit, and I never took off anything, maybe that is why my car runs like crap when I install them??? Hmmmmm......

Hi,
So far no leaks
When I put the bolts in the fuel rail they tightened down fine.
yes, you can see the little holes in the bottom of the injector, thats why I kinda figured that little greyish cap looking thing was supposed to be on.
I think I am just going to take the clips off, It's not leaking but it will make me feel better.
Thanks!
