Those with Comp "R" lifters, please help!

I bought a used set of Comp "R" lifters off of another member here, claiming they were low mileage. I received them today, and I have zero complaints, EXCEPT that one of the lifters has a snap-ring installed in the pushrod seat. The other 15 do not. Here's a few pictures:

New lifters.
Snap ring installed.
No snap ring.

I don't get it. Are all 16 supposed to have this snap ring installed? Or is it for something else? I'm pretty confused, and would like to know before I go ahead and slide these bad boys into the lifter bores. Help me out...

Thanks.

I dont believe any of mine had that ring on them. You might want to give comp a quick call to make sure though.

I just did.

They said that the ring is fine with a stock lifter, but with the Comp Rs, unless it has the flat retaining plate that comes with them, then you're taking a gamble. I'm going to buy a new lifter just for peace of mind.

Wish I knew this before I bought them...

I have a new set in the box and none have a snap ring.
All have the plate.

The only place I have seen snaprings is on stock lifters. Thats why I busted two of them. None of my COMP R's have snaprings either

Is there any other visible difference between the Comp 'R' lifters and stock? I never paid any attention when I put mine in, but I wonder if you might have gotten a stock lifter in the set???

Unfortunately, I do not have any stock lifters on hand, but visually inspecting them, they look identical, EXCEPT for the snap ring. If anyone has any pictures of the pushrod seat on a STOCK LT1 lifter for me to compare, that would be marvelous.

I hope he didn't send me a stocker in the kit...

Call COMP back and say you bought a set of lifters but someone one of the lifters in the set was the wrong one.

Damn quality control.

LOL!

It's not that easy, especially when you bought them off of a board member.
