Those with 236/242 what is your idle set at?

My idle is way low for this cam. It is around 500 rpms and will not idle without feathering the throttle. Just wondering what most of you have your idle speed set at. I think this is causeing some reversion of exhaust gasses to enter the intake and heat it up. The intake seems very hot to the touch. Does anyone know what the average temp of the intake should be? If i get the idle set right, i believe it will fix this problem though.

The 847 is simular (on a 112 lobe sep) , but my idle is just below 1000 rpm.

My idle is set at 950. Mine idled really low until I got a Mad Z tune and now even when I disconnect the battery the engine idles really low for a about a week or so until the compuer learns again

Smaller cam for me, but 1000 rpm idle. I like it to be smooth. With the high idle, and two mufflers, you can hardly tell sometimes that it has a cam once it's warmed up.

My friend has the 236/242 cam in his LT1 TA and it idles at 1000.

I have a cam similar to that and have a low idle on cold start up. My idle is set to 950 in the program but will not idle there until it runs for a minute. There was a thread recently about Comp Rs possibly being the problem with larger cams. I have wonderd if it was something in the tune. Wicked95z-did you have a tune from someone else before Madman's?

No I was running a stock program but I also had a bad MAF connector wire so I dont know how it would have run on a stock program cause it wasn't running right to begin with. By the time I figured out why I was getting a MAF failure I had the new PCM.
