Thinking of going from the crane 227 to the xfi 218-244

would this be a gain? the other thing is i'm not sure if the crane spring kit will work with the xfi cam. i have the springs setup to 150-160lbs. on the seat.

What is the installed height on the crane springs and I'm guessing they are the 99893 springs.

The XFI cam lobes were designed to work with the 918 beehives so you get the best results and most RPM with them.

They're not at 150-160 now on the seat once you've run them.

Thats higher than I would expect.

Plus not to mention 99% of the time guys dont know the installed height OR the seated pressure, so forgive me.

So you said that cuz you didn't expect them to hold pressure, or cuz some don't have a clue what pressure they have?

Because they dont have a clue what pressure or height they are installed at.

The GM846 is tamer than the XFI cam so it's definately going to work. The XFI cam is pushing it the most.

What your running now (227) would make the DCR higher if I remember the cam specs right.

Whats the static on the motor now?

Re: Thinking of going from the crane 227 to the xfi 218-244

the XFI is around 8.7:1 DCR

The 227 is 9.01

The GM 845 is 8.8:1

The XFI is the best bet in terms of power, but as always a custom could do even better.

Hey Bret - any ideas as far as valve spring life with the XFI(or similar custom) and 918's?

I put them to the test worse than those lobes.

Merry Christmas!
