we need to know if this is going to be a dd. but with that goal you can reach 400 rwhp by going 355 bottom end, and if you have intentions of spraying it go forged. then go with a cc306 cam, crane springs that lloyd uses i think they are 10308-1. 1.6rr, and some ported heads. you can get the springs with lloyds LE1 package. they come included. but if your gonna buy from him get his LE1 set up with the custom cam thats made just for the setup. that is good for 400rwhp.

i think golen will be something you should consider. but this is not going to be cheap. dont forget that at that power level you will need full bolt-ons as well

if you want 400rw your going to need good flowing heads to make up for running a smaller cam. I would go le2 heads and a DD friendly cam. Plan on spending 5-7k.

id say he's looking at more like 8-10k. He wants a full longblock. If he wants 400-450 at the wheels, he is going to have to have 450-500 at the flywheel. That leaves him with the golen 440,480 or golen 520 HP setups

They are 6499, 6899, and 7999 respectively. He than needs to reuse his intake manifold, buy intake mani gaskets. get roller rockers, buy injectors, put on an opti, than headers, TB, etc.

I would go

rods : scroll down, get the 5140 I-beams
http://gofaststuff.com/rods.html

crank - stock crank

Pistons - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MLE-SBC550030F05/

right theres a grand. machine work and assembly your probably looking around 600-800.

Leave it 2 bolt mains (unless you have a 4 bolt, just w/e it is, leave it alone your not making the pwer to justify anything)

Than you could send out your heads, get the le2 setup, and get an le3 cam. This will meet your goals

Total -4k or so

Than go to the classifies, pick up 30 or 36# injectors for 250ish

Get a PCMforless tune - 150?

and than w/e for the bolt ons you dont have, your at your goal with a reasonable price. Of course, you can get cheaper pistons, but the mahles are light, and have good rings with them. If you never plan on spraying it, etc, you can get hypereutectics and be fine for much cheaper

All good info. A couple of notes. if you can't get used injectors for less than 250 you're better off buying a set of Brand New injectors (F.A.S.T. is what I'm going with) for $300. Check around the net, New 30 and 36 lb-ers can be found new for $300 including shipping. Also, PCMforless tune will run you $175. I drove down to Bryan's house to get mine done since we're both in PA. Not sure what shipping will run you. As far as pistons go, this was pretty much spot on. Even if you stay with hypereutectics you can still spray. I'd just recommend that you keep the size of your shot low.

Anyone ever hear of a company called precision? They have crate lt1s for 3100 with 360hp? And a 383 stroker for 3900?

go with a proven company that has produced results. Dont try someone new, you may be very disappointed when you all said and done.

If you want 450rw plan on 7k. If you only want 385-400rw you can get away with 4.5k. Are you going to be doing the work yourself??
