thinkin of buying a 95 z28
hello my name is frank and i need a little bit of help. i have an 89 iroc for sale. I have been looking around for a 4th gen camaro, specificaly 95-97 z28. I was looking at a 95 z28 this weekend and it was the nicest one i have seen the car has 114000 miles on it but the engine has 35000 miles on it. the car is fully loaded with black leather interior. it also comes with a hypertech power programer, 3.23? posi rear gears, and another set of rims with tires mounted on them the rims are from a zr1 corvette the tires are bridgestone potenza re730. the car was verry well maintained. the only problem is the transmission sounds bad. in second gear when you hit the gas the trannny kind of makes this grinding/vibrating noise but if you drive it normal its ok and shifts fine. the guy was selling the car for $6800 but due to the trany problem he lowered his price down to $5500. with everything included. my question is, is it worth it to buy the car for $5500 and put a transmission in it. and how much should i spend on a transmission (just a basic stock rebuild) to get it done by a tranny shop?
thanks frank
p.s it also has a tci torque converter i just dont know what kind

Could be that it just has a broken tranny mount, but then again... You have to ask yourself if you would be willing to shell out more bucks for a tranny rebuild if it was needed. $5500 does not sound too bad, but the cars are getting cheaper all the time. Maybe some others will chime in with price comparisons or you could browse the for sale forum.
I bought a 95 t-top, a4, cloth int, the car is a 9.5. It had 71k on the clock and I paid $5200. I would keep looking for a car with less miles. I would prefer to buy something with a stock motor that you know the history of. Who know where that replacement motor came from.
