Think I missed a gear on spray, how can I check for any damage?
Last weekend me and this guy lined up for some cash, big cash(at least to me) and I was all tensed up for the race, anyway long story short my anxiety got to me and I ripped it into 4th as hard as I could and got 2
I think, it felt weird like the rear end and tires locked up, the whole car just hopped, the weird thing was the motor didn't over rev or anything, I've never missed a gear before so I don't know what goes on but the rear just locking up seems weird. Anyway I pushed the clutch in almost immediately and the hopping feeling stopped, coasted to a stop and the car felt fine but there was a slight burny smell coming from the rear, I drove it home and everything was fine(except my ego). If it was a missed gear what kind of damage could i have done? I was only spraying a 100shot and bottle pressure was low not to mention I was still running straight 100 octane from the night before and I'm not using the factory rev limiter, I'm using the one from my accel.

DANG....that sucks...how'd you got to 2nd? You accidently get a little leftward pull on the shift? That sucks...as for checking for damage listen to the tranny and rear end while running in 1st 2nd and 3rd gears listen/feel for any grinding or unusual noises...also you may wanna take your car to a mechanic and have them put a stethascope on it and have a listen to the motor itself...
you dont have to remove the intake to check the pushrods,,,only to check the lifters to see if one is collapsed....to check the pushrods just remove the valve cover, losen teh rockers and swing them to the side, then pull the pushrod...make sure they go in the same holes as they were in....
I woudl just check the plugs and make sure everything looks good I take it the car is running just as good as it was before this? You probally didnt hurt anything besides your wallet that is if you lost you never said.
