Question Think I got the wrong part!

Can a LT4 starter be used on an LT1? I think I had a stupid moment when ordering.

Ok sweet, the starters look different though do i have to take the guard off the old one or what?

They do look slightly different.

Not sure what you are referring to, though. Mine does not have a "guard".

Actually, you did a good thing..
LT4 starter is new, as opposed to all LT1 starters are reconditioned...
LT4 is lighter, more powerful, and cheaper...
Should bolt right on..
If by 'guard' you mean the 'dust shield' tin piece that goes over the flywheel/flex plate area, that works for both starters..

It was the wrong part or maybe some "rigging" is in order. The Lt1 has three wires and the Lt4 has two. Any ideas?

There are only 2 wires that go on the starter (even the LT1 starter). The large cable from the battery and the purple wire from the START circuit. There is a small black/white wire that is a ground that attaches to the block, below the #6 plug.

YEP yet another stupid moment. The third wire goes into the starter itself. thanks for all of the help!
