these heads any good?
these heads any good?
http://www.lingenfelter.com/lingenfe...d=7&pf%5Fid=14
or is it better to get it ported and polished, what out there is the best for around 2k for heads then?
thanks
p.s. are these at least decent?

Re: these heads any good?
I don't see any flow numbers, but Lloyd Elliott ports stock Lt1 heads, puts in new springs, new valves and custom grinds you a cam.
His LE1 setup is $1,100 and will dyno 370-390rwhp with full bolt ons
LE2 setup is $1600 and will dyno 400-420rwhp with full bolt ons
LE1 heads flow 255/180 cost $750
LE2 heads flow 270/190 cost $1,300
His website is www.eportworks.com
I would go with stock ported LT1 heads.

Those heads are CNC'd and run very well with their cams. It all depends on what you want out of your car. What are your goals?
Re: these heads any good?
well you cant get that... lol. To do an LE 1.5 (at the cost of $1,100 for the heads and cam), you need these things in addition.
Heads - $750
cam - $350 (unless you go with hotcam, then $250)
Headers - $300
Rockers - $260
pushrods - $50
guide plates - $25
gaskets - $200
timing set - $100
spark plugs - $30
plug wires - $80
tune - $200
stall conver - $500 (if auto)
30lb injectors - $250
rear gears - $400
58mm TB - $325
matched intake - $200
That's well over 2k and that's if you do the work yourself. You will get around 400-420rwhp with it though. If you want the hotcam go with lloyds stage 1 heads for $750 and you shoudl see about 60rwhp from the heads and cam combo. You will still need most off the other stuff.

Re: these heads any good?
im going to have all the required upgrades like headers, and tb, and inj, etc. but i want to know how much for liek heads and gaskets, and inner parts in the heads, i already have an lt4 hot cam is that good enough?
Re: these heads any good?
LT4 hotcam is pretty small. Its like 214/222 i think. The LE2 cam is somewhere around 234/238. The bigger the cam, the more power, but at higher rpms. the Hotcam will be more streetable where as the LE2 or the CC306 will be faster.
Re: these heads any good?
"Compatible", yes, in that everything would fit together...
What's "best" really depends on what you want. There's sort of a sliding scale from mild to wild on heads+cam, the mildest (stock) is very streetable, makes peak HP and TQ at lower RPMs, pass emissions, are cheap, and don't make much power. The wildest (race parts) aren't really streetable, make peak HP and TQ at very high RPM (which calls for launching at higher RPM and a valvetrain and bottom end that can survive at high RPM), won't pass emissions, are expensive, but make a lot of power.
So decide what you want in terms of streetability, where you want the HP/TQ peaks to be, emissions, cost, and power output. Then it's easy to pick a combo meeting those expectations. In fact if you search the archives the answer is probably already there.

Re: these heads any good?
You can run the hotcam with the le2 heads.. Thats what ill be doing but I have the hotcam grinded on a 110lsa, and im also running a budget 383... So i should be able to pull a tree out, and still pass emissions IF it ever comes to flordia.

Dont forget shipping on the H/C package. Lifters might be a wise investment also. Whats the LE 1.5 package? LE is the man I am calling this spring, he's good at what he does and for a great price. Are the rear gears and stall necessary on the LE 1 and 1.5 packages? Optimal yes, but required? Does LE match intakes to his heads, if so how much gain would you see?

Re: these heads any good?
for the LE1 you wont need a stall or gears. It would help alot, but it makes power from 2,000 to like 6,500 rpm. The LE 1.5 uses the LE2 cam which doesnt make power until 3,000 rpm and you would need a stall to make it driveable. I mean i have heard of a few people who drove that without a stall, but they said it's terrible. It's like a turbo. very slow, and then all of a sudden it just spools at 3,000 rpm. You also get bad cam surge and stuff.
I'm not sure if he matches intakes to heads, i never asked. Intake matching is a waste of time to me. I wouldnt expect to see ANY gain from matching the intake unless you were matching it to a 58mm throttle body. As far as matching it to the heads, i wouldnt think it wold be even noticeable.
