thermo and filter

changing out the thermo and fuel filter. any suggestions?

when u say thermo u mean thermostat ........lol dont get he opti wet lol

Remove your gas cap before removing the fuel filter to take the pressure off the system. One end of the fuel filter has a barbed plastic connector, the other end takes a pair of wrenches to remove. Even with the pressure relieved you're going to loss 10 - 20 oz of gas so have a drain pan handy.

I don't know that you need to change your thermostat as "regular maintenance". If you decide to change it, you might want to consider a 160 degree thermostat instead of the stock 180. If you go 160, you'll need to reprogram the PCM to have the fans come on sooner.

u do not need to reprogram ur fans ur car will still run at a lower temp.......to get the maximum gain out of the thermo reprogramming ur fans would help but it is not a necessity

If you change the stat to a 160 degree, I hope you got the SLP or the Hypertech and not the regular SBC from Autozone (or wherever).
