Question Is there a way to disable the SES light?

Ok I've had my SES light on for over a year now ever since I removed the AIR and EGR for my Hooker LTs. I absolutely hate seeing that light on all the dang time. It looks like crap and annoys the hell out of me. Is there any way to disable this ? I plan on getting my computer programed sometime but until then I would like to turn the light off. I looked around when I put my T/A bezel and blue LEDs in and couldn't figure it out. I tried removing the light closes to the SES but it lit up the odometer. Any one know the answer or have any ideas? Thanks for the help.

Bryan

P.S. Yes I know the SES light is there to warn me of problems but when its on all the time it can't warn me of anything new. So it does just as good off. I will fix it once I get my computer programed.

PCM connector C4 (blue), pin 9 (brn/wht wire) controls the lamp. The same wire can be found under the RH kick panel in the blue connector (C230), cavity "B". Perhaps you could temporarily disengage the pin on one side of the connector there.

Staring at it for a year? Why don't you just get the programming done if you are going to do it anyway?

Thanks for the info, I'll see what I can do. Yeah its been a year. The reason I haven't got the tuning yet is because I don't know when I'm going to put a cam in her. I don't want to get it programed and then have to get it programed again after the cam goes in. The light isn't a huge deal, atleast not enough to motivate me to get reprogramed, but its enough that I finally want to fix it. If that makes any sense at all lol. Thanks again.

Put a piece of black electrical tape over the SES display. I bought a used GMC truck and the previous owner had done that. I didn't even notice the light was on. I found the tape upon doing a thorough cleaning of the truck. The tape was on the clear plastic that covers the instrument panel. If you want a quick and cheap fix give it a try.

if you get madwolf to program the cpu, he will only charge a small service charge to update it, check out his page.

pcmforless also does the same thing if im not mistaken. but any who, welcome to the ses club, mine's been on for about 5 months now after my cat interior decided it didnt want to be there any more and parts came flying out the exhaust. ive never seen that before

anywho, if you have overlays, just tape off the guages with black tape, not electrical though, the sticky stuff likes to melt and wont come off.

Thats a good idea, never thought of that. I'll just stick some tape under my silver overlays when I get them here soon to cover up the light. Thanks again for the input.
