Is there supposed to be resistance...

Is there supposed to be any resistance from - battery to body or engine to body while the car is running? There isnt any while the car is off, but there is when its running (~10ohms) and a little with the key on (~1 ohm).

Reason being, my car wont run after it gets warm. It shuts down after about 10 minutes or less of running (when its bone cold). Then it will only run for seconds at a time. The fueling system is fine according to the pressure guage. When it shuts itself off, I can see the pump re-prime, and settle back like its supposed too. Plus when its dying it pops a lot. Sometimes it tries to idle but its really bad low, shakey and popping the whole time. The popping sounds like unspent fuel exploding in the hot tailpipes.

I was wondering if it might be a bad wire somewhere shutting the ignition system down when everything gets 'warm.'

Any ideas??

Thanks,
Graham Hill

A little resistance is fine when the car is running because there is a load being placed on the system. As far as the starting, sorry I can't help ya'

Come to think, I guess there would be. The PCM allows ground to the injectors to fire them. Hmmm, but why in the crap would it run fine for a few miles, die, and run like pi$$ until its bone cold again.

I was running the car just a sec ago to see what it would do. After a few mintues it died. While I was trying to see if it would restart, I ran my hand over the side of the fuses and burned my finger tip! It was the PCM battery fuse (top row, third from left).

I turned the car off and pulled the fuse. It was half melted and the left side was the side all melted. The prong was dark and crappy looking! I wonder now if a faulty fuse is the problem or if theres a bad wire causing the fuse socket to get too much voltage.

Any Ideas?
