Is there 2 different LT4 ED timing sets??

I found this post that raised this question that there may be 2 different LT4 Extreme Duty sets out there.
Look at post #16 in this thread, also quoted below:
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...t=LT4%2Btiming

This is the sentence that got my attention:
"He helped me to resolve my concern using the ED set without replacing the WP gear sticking outside of the block. They come in two versions, a pot metal one, earlier years and a later model billet steel version. The billet steel version can be identified by holes in the front for oil passages, either 3 or 6, mine has six. The dealer is shipping me the ED set on exchange. "

So is there a "pot metal" ED set made earlier and a "billet" set made later?

Every ED set I ever saw had no holes in the cam gear and 3 holes in the wp gear.

From what I can tell, the above post must have been referring to the wp gear... I never knew there were 2 differetn ones GM used, but that makes since now that the ED set provides you a new gear just in case and the fact that many have said they left the stock wp gear and had no issues.... It has never been clear that the reason is because the stocker they left in there was not the "cast" gear which was used on eariler models...
