Thanks a million combo motorsports
I wanna thank Combination Motorsports and especially Seth and the other guy that helped me out today. As some of you guys might have seen, I was having problems with getting my rocker studs into my heads with the guideplates. Well, part of the problem might have been the rocker studs. The other part might have been my helicoils (which are getting swapped either way). Well Seth was trying to figure out what was going on and what to do to make everything work, and he actually got out all the parts that I had and was even installing the stuff on a spare set of heads to make sure he knew exactly what I was talking about. He called me back throughout the day and even had me email him a few pics to get to the bottom of the problem. He's actually going to send me a new set of studs and I'm sending mine back so he can make sure there wasn't a problem with the manufacturing. He went above and beyond what good customer service requires, and any time I need something and they have it, I will get it through them even if it means paying a little more (which usually isn't the case because they also have the best prices).
Thanks Seth and CMotorsports. You guys definitly have one lifetime customer :-).

Very cool of them to work with you like that.
So I guess your problem was due to the diameter of the under-head-portion of the stud. Very interesting.
Glad to see you got everything worked out bro.

I just got the new studs from cmotorsports. They 2nd day airred them to me. I couldn't be more pleased. I took the heads to a machine shop and all they needed was to be tapped out. We test fit every stud and everything worked perfect. I'm going to work on the car like crazy tonight. I'm pumped up :-). CMotorsports rules!
I had the same problem as you lt1homer.....I installed my new rocker arm studs with guideplates and found that the stud DID NOT bottom out on the guideplates the way I thought it should.
Remembering your saga, I did NOT tighten down the studs too tight. I backed them out and could see on the end of the stud, that it was bottoming out...
...so I looked down in the hole....the heads were BONE STOCK from the factory...and could see that the "tang" or tab left over from the heli-coil was sticking out right into the middle of the hole....my machinist friend says this is from the installation. The stock stud is short, clost to 5/8 I would guess, and the new stud was 3/4 or so. I checked every hole, and this was the case in each one....we tried to break off the tab with some needle nose pliers, but it took a few minutes per tab so.....we went to the belt sander and took off about a thread worth from each stud and put them in......worked like a champ!
Just an FYI if others run into this problem...
