Testing a MAF

How would I go about testing my MAF??? After the car warms up the SES light comes on, dealership said MAF code. Car is also running pretty rich (gas smell / MPG down a lot) Could this be the problem? Thanks

Monitoring it with a scanner would be the best way, IMHO.

What scanner would you recommend? Not that MAF Tanslator but a PC type right? My car was tuned by MadZ28 when I put the headers on and it ran good then but just recently started to suck

My local parts store offers free testing. If you have the code the computer is spitting out you will know what is wrong. If the MAF is bad you will need to replace it but it could be something like a tear in the elbow or something else like that.
