Question Testing for a bad opti

Is there any way I can check my opti to see if it is bad? I am haveing problems with my car and I think it is the opti, but I would hate to replace it if it isnt bad. Thanks for any help.

If you have no spark at the plug wires, then your opti-spark is no good. This is the only way I can think of checking if it is good or bad.

The opti can still be bad even if you are getting spark because if it is bad you may not get enough spark

The optical part sends a high resolution and a low resolutoin signal. If you connect an oscilloscope to each and see missing steps(the voltage changes as each hole passes the sensor) then your opti is bad.

I would say pull a wire and hold a spark plug against the engine. You should have a nice blue spark.
