Tensioner

How do you adjust the belt tensioner on the LT1? I put a A/C delete pulley on and now my belt seems loose, and it squeeks. The tensioner is right next to the A/C puylley. How can I tighten it?

Re: Tensioner

is it still spring loaded(really stong spring)? there is no way to adjust the tensioner, it is automatic

you either need a new belt or a smaller belt, or the tensioner is weak

does the belt feel tight with the engine off?

not neccesarily, the belt could be glazed or just worn out

go to the store with the belt on it now and see how much difference there is in length between old and new, probably a good bit if the old belt is more then 2 or 3 years old

Re: Tensioner

I just went and bought a new belt. It went on in two seconds once i figured out how exactly to lower the tensioner. It then tightened itself up very well. It's much tighter than the sqeaky one. And now. . . no sqeak. and no A/C! Thanks.
