Temperature Sensor issues

I am not getting a reading on my temp gauge. The sensor should be good because I just replaced it not too long ago and it was working fine. I think the issue might be with the wire connection. Is there a way to clean these with a solvent or something? If there is any tricks or tips I can get to get this thing working I would appreciate it.

Also, does this directly affect the fans coming on or is it OK to drive like this? I don't think I will have to worry too much since it is winter but I still don't want the motor getting too hot.
