Tell me why.....
Tell me why.....
I have a 95' LT1/6 Speed Camaro. I am have been trying to figure out why I have all this vibration throughout the car. The massive vibrations are not speed sensitive because it will occur in neutral troughout the rpm band and gets worse the higher you go. 1 month ago I replaced the crankshaft hub and balancer pulley and found out it was off by 120 degrees but is supposedly on there correctly. I don't know if it has spun because even though the crankshaft snout is keyed the hub is not. I had the driveshaft re-balanced at A-1 near Fort Mchenry and I had my Aluminum Flywheel and Mcleod Single disk and Pressure Plate Neutral balanced and Charlie's Machine Shop in Glen Burnie. I have changed the camshaft but i did not degree it this vibration is too powerful and I am not sure where to go with it or where to begin. When i had the clutch out I put the original steel flywheel on and started it with no tranny. It still vibrated....................
Re: Tell me why.....
The crank damper pulley is not keyed becuase it is a neutral balance, which means if it is correct it can go on any dirrection. Why did you have to replace the old damper? And where did you get the new one? Also check the rubber in that damper pully. I had one fall apart on an old mustang and it damn near vibrated itself into oblivion.
Re: Tell me why.....
Sounds like a miss? Maybe your missing on one cylinder and interpreting it as a bad vibe? Just an idea since it sounds like you've elimated almost everything that can be balanced based on the description.
Re: Tell me why.....
Yea I thought that too but
Noid lights for the injectors checked out. Spark plugs look good
"Timing curve isnt far off"
"o2's look good"
"maf good"
accordiung to LTONE4Fun (Jeff -computer tuner who used to work for Fbody Central)

Seems like you ahve other issues, but this is not helping at all and will make diagnosis impossible unless it is addressed.
Re: Tell me why.....
An LT1 is an Internally ballanced motor
just as TRANSAMZ said neutral balanced damper in the front
you need a neutral balanced flywheel
and yeah i do have poly mounts
but this is alot of vibration
the entire car goes to hell
it a bass amp

Re: Tell me why.....
Check the pilot bearing on the back of the crank. If you've had the trans out for clutch and flywheel changes, it's possible you damaged the pilot bearing when you put the trans back in. I had a similar problem with my car last year. After having the trans out numerous times, changing the clutch and flywheel and making sure everything was balanced, I finally gave up and took it somewhere to have it looked at. The guy called me and told me the pilot bearing was damaged. New bearing went in, vibration was gone. Good luck.

Re: Tell me why.....
We could go back in for on the internal/external issue but in my first post i said i put the original flywheel on with no clutch which was never touched by anyone but me and GM and i started the car and it still vibrated like crazy with no trans in.....
I change my pilot bearing everytime I pull the clutch so this one has less than 100 miles on it so when i got the flywheel rebalanced i did a pilot bearing change

Re: Tell me why.....
WHats the chance those cam plate bolts backed out and stopped because of the timing cover not alowing them to back out completely or something along those lines......
Re: Tell me why.....
So i got my balancer hub off last night and WHEN i almost had it off i was man handlin it and I could hear something very disturbing when i was wigglin the crank
in the back of the motor it sounds like something has play
