tell me about forged cranks for the lt1....

Ok,

Im planning on rebuilding my lt1 into a 383.

Im going to do the bottom end work first and then, after I have recovered financially from building that, Im going to put on expensive aftermarket heavily ported heads. I will re-use my mildly ported stock lt1 heads until I do that.

I will also be re-using my p600b blower (at first), and then looking to put something bigger on there (like a vortech ysi).

I like my plan because I can run a little bit higher compression and less boost w the p600b, then I'll be sure to get a bigger cc head (to lower the CR) and run more boost with the new head/ blower swap.

My question now is on forged cranks. I have a corvette 4 bolt main lt1 block right now (stock bottom end).

My lt1 stroker crank options seem to be:

Eagle forged crank (cheapest, many seem to use that here)
Callies Dragon Slayer
Callies Magnum (expensive).

My eventual goals are a 700+ rwhp car. Id like to be able to spin this thing to 7000 rpm and make that kind of crazy power.

What crank should I be looking at?

BTW, anybody know what the stock crank can withstand ? (have their been any crank failures here? )

Stock crank is good, but out of the choices you posted I would use the Dragon Slayer.

I would trust the stock crank to hold up to 500hp easy, but I'd get nervous passing 600hp and knowing its going to stay reliable with a heavy foot. The Dragon slayer is a good choice if you have the coin for it. I personally went with the eagle forged (just ordered yesterday) because I'm on a low budget for my 385, but I'm sure it will do fine with my v1 + spray.

If you have the coin, I would use the Dragonslayer, but as a cheaper option I would choose a Callies Compstar over the Eagle every single time.
