and is a 3000 stall going to create the "HIGH STALL" problem for my OBD1, i really need some input from some of you veterans b4 i go with this decison...thanx a bunch.

the obd1 high stall problem seems to be a hit or miss type thing. i haven't heard anyone talk much about it in a while. you should knock .5 of your time with the stall. you will probably need some e.t. streets though.

I have the TCI 10" 2800 Street Fighter Converter in my car now. I cut usually a 1.7xx-1.8xx in the 60 foot. My local track is usually horrible for track prep. I have however just invested in some BMR Subframe Connectors, Lower Control Arms, and Relocating Brackets. I also ran with about 18 PSI in the Nittos' but plan on going down to 16 PSI at SLP Day next Saturday. I hear that track is much nicer than my local track, even though my track is a IHRA sanctioned track.
I would say that my converter was the best mod that I have done to date on the car. It was easily worth .4 in the quarter. It dropped my 60 foot times from around a 2.2xx to the 1.7xx-1.8xx I run now. I might however had gone to a larger converter but with the OBD1 problem I choose to stay with the 2800 Stall. The TCI converter has a 1.75 STR.
My friend had this converter in his car and was running 1.6xx 60 foot times. He did go to a 3800 Vigilane Converter and was forced with the OBD1 high stall issues. However Bryan at PCMfor LESS had a fix and was nice enough to share it. Went to the local track last Wednesday and as we were there he used his laptop and LT1 Edit and fixed the problem with the High Stall as per Bryan's fix. It worked just fine with a little practice at it.
For the price of a TCI converter ($429, I paid $200 installed) you can not beat that to easily. TCI has been around a very long time and I have used them in my other vechiles with Turbo 350's, Turbo 400's and even once with a TH700R4. Good luck in your decision and if I can help answer anything more drop me a PM.

I run Nitto 555R's 245/50/16 on stock salad shooters. If the track is prepped well I wont spin but most of the time at San Antonio Raceway it stinks. I am going to SLP day in Ennis this Saturday and am looking to pull some 1.6xx 60 foot times.

I went Street Fighter 2800. I didnt want the stall too high becouse my window switch turns the juice on at 3000. The converter starts me out at about 2600 off the line.

so say if i went with the TCI 3000, and set the window switch to 3200, i would be ok....and with it stalling at 3000, would i run into the high stall problem?

****ALSO FOR YOU TCI OWNERS, DO THEY LIKE TO BE FLASHED OFF THE LINE FROM IDLE, FLASHED FROM LOWER STALL, OR LAUNCHED AT THE STALL RPM????

Does the TCI 2800 also come as a lock up? I dont want that thing spinning like crazy on the highway and chew up my tranny, I know to run a trans cooler but I'm still not comfortable with all that spinning.
