Thanks.

Re: TB porting

If you wanted to go up to 52mm w/ a stock TB, NOMAD on the board is your best bet.

Re: TB porting

They cant take the stock casting up to a 58MM though.

I dont know exactly why? But i believe I remember someone saying it was because the metal starts to get potted ( Think air pockets in metal ) so when you machine them out that big, you cant get a smooth finish, there will be little holes through it.

Why dont you jsut try and find a used 58MM somewhere ?

Save yourself some money and get the stock TB ported to a 52mm. It will work great for a heads and cammed 355.

Re: TB porting

The stock throttle body casting can't support a bore larger than about 53.5mm. Once you go that large you machine through the casting walls and destroy the throttle body. If you buy a ported stocker make sure the porter installs sealed roller bearings. Some say you don't need them but I strongly disagree, all the aftermarket units have them. The steel shaft will wear into the aluminum housing with higher mileage. A ported 52mm stocker with the sealed bearings can be had for $175.

Re: TB porting

I don't see the big deal with getting a 58mm, its only $100 more than a used ported stocker.

Re: TB porting

I would DEFINITELY go with the 58mm tb over getting one ported. I had mine ported, felt like it ran better, then it was the cause (im pretty sure of) of my car idleing COLD at 400-500 rpm's. Put a BBK 58mm on, and my car idles COLD at 800rpm's or so, and warm at 500rpm's. Definitely feels a lot more responsive, and just a lot better quality. Only downside is having to port the intake to match the 58mm gasket.

Re: TB porting

Cool, well I'm going to pull my intake to change the gasket anyway, so porting to 58mm might not be so bad.

Would it cause any drivability/running issues while this motor is still pretty much internally stock? I do plan on a 355 in the future with heads/cam.

Thanks,

Igor.
