Taylor thundervolt 50 vs. msd super conductors

I need to get some new plug wires and i was told to the biggest possible...ive narrowed it down to 8.5 msds or 10.4 taylor thundervolt. Im thinking that the taylors are better as they are 111 bucks vs. 85 for the msds. I will not be going with the ovc kit because i think that it would make taking the valve covers off a pita, and the stock routing hasn't burned any wires yet.

Thanks guys
James

They both suck. Had both and the MSDs insulation is horrible, and the taylors just turned to garbage 6 months after I got them. Got Accel 300+ 8.8 wires now with no problems in 2 yrs.

I used the msd's, they are very nice in my opinion, had them on for prolly around 5 years now, they still look new!

I got 58,000 miles out of my first set of Taylor's. Bought another set and ohm'd them out against the old ones, and they ohm'd out almost as good as the new ones. So I saved them for spares.

Ya i was thinking of the accel 8.8s also, but do they make some already cut and with opti boots?

Also what happened to your taylors, how did they turn to garbage? Were they the thundervolt 50s...the 10.4mm ones? I have heard of others having problems with taylors but it was witht the 50 dollar ones.

they are both good wires. You will be fine with either or. The only thing I didnt like about the MSD's is that the boot was a bit big, and would touch my FLP headers. This is not a flaw in the wires, but more in the headers. If you have headers, just watch for that. Just make sure you route them in a very good way. As for them falling apart like mentioned above, no wire is going to fall apart in 5 months unless you route them like garbage..

I HAVE been using the $50 Spiro Pro's. I'll never use anything else either.

Cool im guessing that i will probably be going with the taylors.

Btw compstall,

I feel your pain on having to run up high. I went to the track the other day at julesburg co and it was hot and humid. Only good part is that it is at 3500ft, 2000 lower than bandamere. I ran a 13.98 as a best at 104 with a 2.4 60'. My mph was all over the place because a spark plug wire was arching at high rpms and the track made me run out of the groove, i got less traction at the track then on the street.

Yeah this altitude blows. This cam I'm putting in next week should hopefully get me BACK into the 13's and over 100 mph again. GRRR

I have the reg. $60 Taylors on my 95Z, and have put over 30k on them w/ NO problems. I put the Thundervolt 10.4 wires on my 99TA and I love them!
They were $63 at TRacing. Guess they are higher for an LT1 since there is more wire needed. But anyway, I think you will be fine w/ any wire you choose. It is a matter of choice and taste. Routing them correctly is the key!
