talked with guy at comp cams new cam vs the cc306 look inside!

the tech support guy i know said the cam i am about to mention would benefit me better than the cc306 its a 230 236 with a lift on the intake at576 and 570 exhaust with a 112 lobe is there alot of difference between the two or better yet whats the difference between the two with my set up wich would create more power in my car.cause i narrowed it down between the two just want the most power out of the two.

i'm not knocking the 230/236 cam from Comp but do a search on this board for dyno results and track times from that cam and the CC306. I think you will find the 306 produces much better results. No offence to anyone with the 230/236. Just doesn't seem to perform very well in LT1s IMO.

thats with 1.6s in the car i keep hearing more in more about the 306 so i guess im getting closer to my decision i just want the best power what stall converter is recomended for the 306.will the 306 cause a loss of bottom end torque wise with a smaller stall say a 2500.

If the cam's power starts @2500, you need a MINIMUM 3000 stall, and even then that is pushing it 3200 IMO is minimum, 3500+ is ideal

Where are you coming up with that at? I haven't dyno'ed mine but AI said there is no way i should put down less than 380rwhp and i'm hoping for closer to 400 with my setup. Kmook put down 405 rwhp with his, Beast96Z put down 397rwhp. This cam is a proven performer and will be more streetable than the cc306. You will also have much less emissions.

But you have heads, all the dyno's I have seen on stock heads between those two cams have shown the 306 has more power. Actually, I havent even seen a dyno sheet of a 230/236 w/heads put down more then a 306 w/heads.

I believe bunker was putting down a few hp shy of 350rwhp with his stock head 230/236 the 230/236 is a good performer. It is also designed to make low-midrange torque. Sure the cc306 is gonna make a little more power, its a bigger cam. Just like the 230/236 will make more power than smaller cams. I realize bigger is not better but i'm just making a generalization. Because you can make more power with smaller custom grinds.

I agree with you, I have seen some good numbers from that cam. I think more then anything, I just have a sour taste in my mouth from that cam. Guy in my town had some ported LT4's and that cam, and all the bolt on's and the car was a pig. Probably didnt have anything to do with that cam, but the car never ran good at all.

They are both good cams, I have chosen the 306 based on what I want out of a cam, and it looks like you have chosen the 230/236 based on your needs.

Good luck to both of us

BTW- Off topic, but I noticed you are running a 8.8 in your sig. Where did you get the 8.8 modified and how much did it cost all together?

I am sure I will be needing something here soon.

Exactly, i have nothing against people using the cc306 but people shouldn't come in and bad mouth it when they don't know anything about it. They might influence someone way from a very good cam.

I got mine from www.extremechassis.com. I'm pretty happy with it. I bought it over a 1.5 yrs ago. It came with new bearings, gears, seals, and rebuilt 28 spline Ford posi. All i had to do was put my old 10bolt axles in. I got it for 1200 shipped. I didn't have the extra cash for the all out built one but i wanted gears and wasn't gonna spend close to $500 getting gears and having them installed in my junk 10bolt. Now i have gears and a pretty stout rear end. I haven't decided if i will just upgrade axles or get a 31 spline setup. I don't really use my car at the track much. I heard craig at extreme chassis was having long waits to get the rears out. Some people had to wait up to 15 weeks for their rears. They are good quality though if you ask me.

Grygst76,

I never received the rockers that you sold to me for $85 in July. See this thread Here

You have cashed my money order, and I have nothing in return. I need you to refund my $85.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but grygst76 does not reply to my PM’s.

Well I dyno'd my xe230/236 112 lsa (544/556 lift) with ported stock heads (265/172@550) combo and was a little dissapointed as it only put down around 335 rwhp and trapped a high of about 109mph. Although I think if I can work out the bugs next year and do some fine tuning I will be able to get more out of it.
