taking out headlight motor

I am taking out the headlight motor on my 97 firebird, it is making a grinding noise when i shut it off, and am in need of some assistance.

I see 3 bolts holding the motor on but then there is the rod coming off the motor to the headlight that I cannot seem to disconnect. Anyone who knows please help me.

Yeah there is also a bolt going from the motor to the arm to the headlight. You can try the free headlight fix, which involves rotating the gear 180 degrees. you can see how it works on this site, www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm , this is a good temporary fix, or you can replace the entire motor, or just the gears, the same site sells brass gears to retrofit the plastic ones.
