Tach Install

Hey folks, I need some tech help here with my 97' Formula (A4). I want to install this Autometer tach in my car. But... I have never installed a tach before. I dont have the stock coil setup (running delteq unit now), so I dont know if that changes anything. I'm pretty good when it comes to wiring though.

How hard is this too install? What wires do I need to tap into?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Re: Tach Install

Because its an auto, it upshifts on its own. A shiftlight is like a warning to tell you to shift. Well I dont have a manaul valvebody. So it wouldnt work for me.

Re: Tach Install

unbolt the ecu and look for white wire #13 on the RED connector, then just get a wire tap and tap right into it. for ower supply i got mine from the fuse panel, light i connected to the power for the parking and headlights, then just ground it under the dash.

Re: Tach Install

TY, looks like the only hard part is routing the wires. I'll prob just route it through the factory spot.

Re: Tach Install

I was just wondering, does that wire run under the dash? If so, I'll just tap it off there, instead of at the pcm.

Re: Tach Install

i think it does because i have heard of people tapping in under the dash. i just routed mine behind the weather stripping and in the door jam works fine and you cant see it.

Re: Tach Install

Awsome,

Maybe I'll do some kind of a install guide for people who have never done this before.
