Arrow T56 rebuild questions

My car pops out of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear when it is cold. 1st and 5th hold just fine. Could this all of those synchro's or the fork-or both? I was planning on getting the D&D synchro kit and the steel shift fork-do I also need shift fork pads? (I saw those mentioned in a search). Thanks in advance.

it is the syncros. Get any syncro kit and you might as well up grade to the 3/4 steel shift fork.

Thanks guys. To confirm is it a typical first signof bad synchros to show up when it's extremely cold? It's fine when it's warm or when it hasn't sat. It messed up afetr sitting in the cold for two weeks.

sounds like worn synchro blocking rings, they are part of the rebuild kit as well.

I will check when I get home (I bought a set last week (for $238 It should,) I specifically asked if it had these when I ordered. FWIW, this is the second time I have gone through my tranny, the first time was with a stock replacement set, which seems to have added quite a bit of "notchiness" I am hoping that the new carbon fiber blocking rings will straighten it out.

What's the diference between the D&D and Donato kits-talking about the synchros and rings? Also does the D&D kit include the seals I would need? I'm hoping to rebuild this transmission myself with my father-if not I'll hand it over to a local club member.

Well the D&D kit I received last week DID include the shift fork pads. It DID NOT include the tailshaft bushing, tailshaft seal, or input shaft seal, it also did not include the wave washer that is part of the 5-6, reverse cluster either. no biggie.

Found this tranny thread so thought I would ask my questions in it.

My tranny grinds sometimes going into third, it will not let me in until I let off the clutch and engage it again, I assumed this was a synchro does this sound right? Also if it is, what are some options for a rebuild kit,is the D&D about the best kit or are there other kit options I am not aware of. If the tranny needs to be rebuilt which I susupect it does what are the keys parts I should be expecting to upgrade and replace, also what is a good mild clutch I believe the tranny problems stem from my Center Force DF downgrade made a while back, what would be good for a 96 Z with long tubes and RR's these and all the other basics, I am seriously thinking of getting a cam put in so if that matters it could be not to far down the road, it is either that or a TV DVD cause those are just pimp. Thanks for any advice.
