T56 Question

It just doesnt seem to go in gear like it used to. No grinding, but it doesnt slip right in, it requires a little more force than i think it should. I know the Borg Warner trannys arent exactly the smoothest trannmissions out there, but this has me a little worried. Is it time for a fluid change. I do have 97,000 on the car. I just dont want to cause any damage by applying more force to get it in gear.

Any help would be appreciated

either your clutch is old or your slave and master cylinder are worn out!

I just had my 95 T56 Trans rebuilt because of it going into gears harder then normal, especially when it got hot. Thr trans guy said the early years of the T-56's where known to have problems with being hard to shift and they made an upgrade kit to fix the problem which is what I put into mine.

I have a 97 Z28 6 speed and ive had tranny problems twice and have spent about $3,000 on rebuilds and the first time it was my sincronizers that went bad and that ran me about $2,500 so that could be your problem. hopefully not thought

If you've never changed the fluid, try that first. It's the cheapest thing to do at this point. Get some good fluid, and maybe even add one of those small bottles of GM Limited Slip Additive. It might help. Then see what happens.
