T-tops. How do you take them apart??

I have t-tops in my `95 Firehawk that wont come apart. The strange thing is that the t-tops in my `95 Z28 come apart without any problems. I have the two screws on the ends of the plastic part out, but the handle wont come off. It looks as if there is some type of "C" clip in there holding it in place?? I tried prying at it with a screw driver, but it wont come off. Anyone ever do this before?
Thanks.

You'll need to get that clip out of there. Use a small pick to pry it out, and then the handle should come straight off. Don't twist the handle, as it is fairly easy to damage the splines. If you do end up damaging the handle, they are avail from GM for $12 or so . Good Luck!

Not to hijack the thread here, so sorry if I do. But my T-tops are really hard to turn the handle on and make a horrible screetching sound and just plain difficult to get off. Anybody know whats the problem or is there something I can grease up on them?

My t-tops did the same thing, and it's really easy to fix. Remove the t-tops, and take the handle and plastic off. You will need to lubricate every surface that rubs or slides. I used aerosol white lithium grease. Spray everything really good, and operate the top with the lever, just be careful not to strip the splines. You may also want to lubricate the ends of the rods where they go into the holders in the roof. It only takes about 20 minutes to do both sides. Good luck.
