Symptoms of Weak Valve Spring

Has anyone had a valve spring become weak? If so what did it do? My car has a valve that gets extremely noisy when the engine is revved. What I can't figure out is how it sometimes goes away once the car has been driven for a long period of time. The valves have been adjusted and the lifters replaced with no success. Thanks in advance.

The noise could be a loose rocker or a bad lifter.

Weak springs usually just make you slow on the top end. In very bad cases you might hear a pop from the intake valve floating.

Do you have 1.6rr's? If you do, they will be loud compared to the stock 1.5's. My 1.6's sound like somthing is wrong they're so loud but everything is tightened and nothing is loose and everything is peachy.

I just replaced all the lifters and adjusted all the valves and the noise is still coming from the same valve. All valvetrain parts are OE. I'm worried about it because it is only one valve that is extremely loud in comparison with the others. I'm just having trouble with the fact that it sounds very loose when it's cold but then will tighten up after a half hour of driving. How is that even possible, shouldn't it get louder? Any other suggestions? Thanks for the replies.

Was the noise there before?

Is it just the one valve? Do you know which valve it is?

If the rocker is adjusted correctly and the push rod isn't bent and the cam lobe isn't boogered...

I don't know, but if it goes away, it seems like the lifter may not be pumping up with the others, but if you have all new lifters, then maybe its just the cam lobe, but you should be able to adjust the lash to quiet it down.

You will probably have to do it while the engine is running on that perticular valve.

Be sure to wear a rain coat

The noise was there before the lifters and valve adjust, that was my first attempt at fixing it. It has always been the #5 cylinder exhaust valve. Since I replaced all the lifters and the same one is still noisey I have to assume it's not the lifters. I checked the pushrods on a plate of glass and they are all straight. I adjusted it with the car running to a quarter turn past lash. The noisey valve will quiet down when I am adjusting it at idle. However, as soon as the engine is revved it gets noisey again. I still don't understand how the noise can go away after driving for thirty minutes, does that make sense to anybody? If the cam lobe were boogered up, would it go away after driving for thirty minutes. Any ideas? Thanks
