Symptoms of optispark failure

Well, my car will start up and run fine until I shut it off and turn it back on while its hot. Then I get a rough-*** idle, car misfires, and you can actually feel the car lunge forward little bits at a time when you take your foot off the brake. lol.

So I'm pretty sure this is an ignition failure regardless, but I thought once and opti failed the car wouldn't be driveable anymore, not a slow process

Also, could it be a faulty ICM or a good one that's getting too hot?

Yes even on a OBD1.
I remember when the ICM was going out on my 1985 camaro.
The OPTI spark might not set a code even if it's bad.
On the OPTI spark it all depends on what part fails.
And yes it could it be a faulty ICM or a good one that's getting too hot.
You sould be able to check the ICM at a autoparts store.
I know there is a tester for the old ones like in the 85 camaro I had.
Not sure on the new camaros.
