Significant loss of power and overheating are the main one's. Also your exhaust will sound like crap...

Symptoms

my symptoms were a big loss of power, especially on the highway, and when i pulled over and popped the hood to see what was wrong, my headers were orange, almost like a turbo header

Red glowing exhaust manifolds and cat are extreme symptoms of a clogged cat. You need to get rid of that thing now! Dont gut it. Just get a high flow cat from the exhaust shop and you should be fine.
