switching from shorties to longtubes, does pcm have to be retuned?

I am about to buy some longtubes to replace my shorties and was wondering if I am going to need to get my pcm retuned by pcmforless. I had it tuned by them when I got my heads ported and polished with a 306 cam. I am having trouble wondering why I would need it retuned if all that longtubes does is help gain power by letting the exhaust get out easier. Could longtubes some how help suck in fresh air into the cylinders causing me to need to get my pcm retuned to add my fuel so I am not lean? Thanks for any help.

Hola djm_e22,

In short, your pcm will not have to be sent back for a retune. Who told you otherwise? I do believe 02 extensions will be required.

HTH.

not required but just so you know there are some tricks that we do in the programming to make long tubes get along better with the everything.. (dtcs, some o2 function, and open/closed loop stuff) I even have different fueling for some.

So will it be perfectly alright if I put the headers on when I receive them and use the car until I get a chance to ship it back for you to retune it?

No, you will not need a retune.
