swapping 97 Lt1 wire harness questions

Hello everyone and thanks in advance.
I am swapping an 97 LT1 into my 1975 jeep j10 truck and have some questions. I have already swapped an lt1 into my 92 firebird but I bought the wiring harness ready to go.

I am in the process of taking the motor and wiring out of the donor car.
What wiring do I not need? I am guessing I do not need everything going into the passenger side firewall and most going into the driver side firewall. I will try to keep the scan plug under the dash and its wiring. Basically keep everything in the engine compartment goint to the ecm?

I am also buying the VATS delete off ebay and do not know if it will tell me which wires on the ecm to splice it to. I know the ecm needs power and ground so any help on those wires would be great help as well.

I am going to find as much info by studying my harness in my firebird but I would also like reassurance and I know the 97 lt1 is a little different then the 93 and ecm plugs are different. thanks for any help!

Brett

You have a PCM, instead of an ECM that the 93 had. You can look over wiring pinouts and such on my Tech Page in the Electrical section.

The engine harness should be pretty easy to figure out when you start disconnecting everything. You should be able to pull the PCM out at the same time as the engine. I would also recommend converting to a OBDI pcm from a 94-95 for tuning purposes. The tuning programs are a lot cheaper than for OBDII.
