SVO injector installation

I am in the process of installing #30 SVO injectors. I noticed when the injector is seated in the fuel rail, that is bottomed out, the retaining clips won't work. If I pull it out a 1/16" they will work. My question is, do they have to be completely in, or can I pull them out a little for the clips to work?

I didnt use the clips on mine as well, I seated them fully then carefully placed the fuel rails on lining each one up with its appropriate hole tehn bolted down the rails. I havent had troubles yet.

as long as the gaskets are sealing when everythings bolted inplace you should be fine. The clips are just there for further saftey measures....

Well here's what I did. First I installed the injectors without the clips. I noticed that the o-rings where barely in the bores of the manifold. So I tried putting the clips on, but didn't like how far the injectors stuck out of the fuel rail. I noticed that the o-rings on the stock injectors where wider than the SVO's. So I replaced the o-ring that goes into the manifold with the ones from the stock injectors, they're fairly new. Seems to be a better seal.
Thanks for everybodys input.

i used a dremmel tool to make grooves on the injectors ever so carefully....and it worked.....they fit perfectly......however on the other hand i know people who have just slapped them in without the clips and had no problem at all......
