suspension squeak!
suspension squeak!
hey guys. i dont know if you remember or not but a hwile back i posted about my rear end/clunk noise i was having in the rear part of my car. anywyas it has turned off cold here in kentucky and the noise is non stop now. before hand it would only do it whne it was cool or cool and never when hot. when the temperature was warm or hot outside the car wouldnt make a single noise. but now its getting toward fall/winter time it is getting chilly and cold. well i think its my suspension that is squeaking not a clunk noise in my rear end. i think thats better news rather than it being my rear. major problems then. but it happens when i hit small bumps in the road and swaying left and right while going slow. it doesnt do it going say 20mph and up. no noises at all. but going slow say through a parking lot or neighborhood it makses the noise on every small bump. its a terrible squeaking noise outside the car and makes a clunking type sound inside the car. it sounds like somethings dried out in my suspension or a ball joint/bushing thats worn? the sound is on both sides but i notice it more on the driviers side cuz thats where im at. can you guys help me out? what could it be? have any of you guys had this same problem especially now that winter is coming around and its getting colder? do i need to regrease something or buy new bushigns? is it bad to drive on the car like this. it hurts when i hear the noise cuz it pisses me off. but when im going faster than 20mph it doesnt make the noise at all. only slow. help me out guys thanks!
I've got the same thing happening and its driving me crazy
I've been trying to figure out what it is but I keep coming up empty. If any of you guys have any suggestions, I'm wide open to any idea.
Sorry I can't help you out EaC95Z28.

I have the same exact problem on my car, When I got my new tires put on my car, a friend of my dads looked at it, and said my "Bushings"? are shot??? I have no freaking clue what that is...... he said, he had the same problem on one of his cars, he didn't want to mess with it, so he just kept using WD-40 on them??? I Do'nt even have a clue what they look like or how to find them???

yea i wish i cuold help you guys out aslo. it sucks. i need to figure it out. it only does it cold too so if id ont get it fixed and it warms up i hope it all goes away with no problems. probalby not with my luck i will try to get it fixed soon. the bushings im talking about are like the sway bar bushings, control arm bushings panhard rod pushings pretty much all the bushings u replace when you buy a polyeurethane bushings kit. keep in touch if any of you know what it is or figure it out b4 i do let me know . thanks!
you guys crack me up . . lol . . go underneather your car with some grease a grease up those rubber rings(bushing) on the rear swaybar . that should clear up that annoying squek
Might take some wd-40,and bend the little red plastic sprayer think into a curve, stick the red thing into the inside of the spring itself and spray generously up toward the top of the rear coil springs.Helps to use the tiny little cans of wd-40.Time for new rubber isolators at the top of the springs if this helps.My02
fatdog. i dont think its my springs or the rubber isolators. pretty sure it isnt. im almost positive its my sway bar bushings. i will try to get those greaased up good sometime this week. its so damn cold here that it sucks trying work on the car outside. it sucks *****. but i will try to fix it i ohpe thats it and all i have to do is regrease em. is it hard to do? just disconnect the sway bar, grease the bushings and reconnect? it should b like that i think.
The rear springs tend to squeak on their bottom perches. It is metal to metal there, no isolator. Also when you hit a bump they will bounce off the perch and clunck when they land back down. What you want to do is put some grease right there where the spring sits on the perch. Some guys put a piece of rubber hose on the bottom loop of the spring. This will take care of your squeaking over bumps.
I greased the Passenger side Panhard rubber bushing three months ago. Its been quiet ever since.
Caution: Put the rear end on top of two jack stands on a level surface. its a real bitch to put the bolt back in if the car shifts even a millimeter sideways (like when you jack it up on one side only.)
