Surging problem

Ever since I've gotten my car running w/the new trans, I've had a slight surging problem. Idle isn't rough, but at parking lot speeds (1-2mph), if I tap the gas and let off, the RPMs will drop when I let off, down to 200-300 and it will nearly stall, then the RPMs bounce up and down for a few seconds between 500-700. It actually stalled on me the other day when I tapped the gas backing out of my driveway.

I also noticed that while the RPMs are bouncing up down, the voltmeter fluctuates. I tried unplugging the MAF, and the problem seemed to get even worse. Any ideas what would cause this???

-Also, it behaves perfectly in neutral. It only does this while in gear.

Re: Surging problem

^^your car is stock cam right? I just put a 3600 Yank in my car and my car sugres sometimes. Then it clears up. I'm thinking a tune will help the surging problems.

Yep, stock cam. Motor is completely stock...valve covers have never been off.

You think it's converter-related?
