It cost me over $7000 for my 350 so no I don't think you can build a super charged 355 or 383 for less. You can do it but you'd have to use used parts and maybe not the best of parts. I wanted quality so it cost me a little more.

You can definetley built a budget blown 355 for less than $6k. You have to do a lot of shopping around for better prices. How much boost you want will be limited too. You won't be able to put a F2 Procharger on there but you can find a used blower for pretty cheap.

Re: supercharged 355 for less then 6K???

i had my top end completely built, heads/cam etc. stock bottom end,,threw a rod. now i'm doing a 355 , with all the machine work for the lower end, parts and a new cam , i'm about 3500-4000 deep. i'm using good parts though. so thats all the lower end, not to mention the upper end,,lifters, rockers, assuming u have all of that,
even 3500 + cost of the super charger...eh its close. then u gotta dyno tune it and all that stuff.

Re: supercharged 355 for less then 6K???

well what i thought about doin was tryin to find a forged 355, 4 bolt main, short block. and then callin Lloyd and having custom blower heads and cam set up. its just a thought right now but i really think i could do it. then i could find a used supercharger and run about 10lbs of boost.

thanks!

It's possible for a 355 since you can reuse most of the rotating assembly and do little upgrades like pistons and studs and whatnot. For a fully forged 383, I highly doubt you will be able to do it for $6k or less.

Re: supercharged 355 for less then 6K???

I got a buddy who just built this setup: eagle crank, scat rods, srp pistons, 4 bolt main, hellfire rings, arp main studs, arp rod bolts, arp head studs, LE heads, fms cam custom cam, all gaskests, etc all for under $3,000. He bought the parts from the boards, but all the parts were never used prior to him getting them. So, to answer your question, yes it can be done but you just have to know what parts to buy and where to find deals.
