Summit Rebuild kit

I have been reading up on this and am wondering how this kit measures up. I did a search on here and found out that the pistons are a little heavier than JE or SRP pistons, but they are still pretty good. But, I was wondering about the bearings and rings that come in the kit. Are these worth using? I am planning on 420 rwhp or so, and probably will be spraying (150). Should I buy bearings and rings seperate? Please let me know, I want the car back on the road soon.

im curious as well. Im looking 400+ hp. Ported heads, TN-233XR 233/239 duration, .569"/.577", 111lsa and a 355 rebuilt bottom end. Im on a tight budget, so im looking to see how this summit forged rebuild kit holds up. They say you get what you pay for, so im kinda skiddish about ordering it.

I was also wondering. I know they say you get what you pay for but all the part brands are good I think. Also were you talking about the forged pistons? Or the hyper? Also have you gotten any prices for boring your block or prep? Sorry I havent helped with your questions. Thanks

I posted a while back about this kit. I can say for the money the kit is a good one. It comes pretty complete, and all in all is good. I used the forged set since I am supercharged, and with a little over a year of daily driving everthing is good. I would recommend it. Also my buddy who helped me rebuild the motor who has been rebuilding motors for several decades said it was a very good kit as was very surprised with the high quality of the kit. One note also is that the speed-pro pistions are a improved version of the old "TRW" pistions. In any case I liked my kit and it has severed me very well so far. Good luck

Im going with the forged kit, it has a higher compression ratio, and if I ever feel the need for a little nitrous, my worries will not be as bad with the forged pistons. I haven't gotten any machine work prices yet on boring the block, and porting the heads, but im sure its not going to be too bad if you know someone. One of my friends is putting mine together, so im sure i'll come out on a good deal for it all. I suggest riding around to local performance shops and getting quotes, don't settle on one place. Talk to people they have built LT1's for and see what they say.
