Summit "House Brand" roller lifters anyone?
Summit "House Brand" roller lifters anyone?
I had a stock cammed 1995 Z28 that grew a flat spotted lifter and consequently grooved the cam lobe.I've installed a Comp 501 mild cam with Isky springs and stamped long slot 1.6:1 guided rockers. The lifters are replaced by Summit's house brand.Has anyone ever used these lifters before? They do NOT have the beveled edges at the roller like the stock ones, but still clear the lobes.Summit emailed me that they can rev to 6500,but my redline will be around 5600 anyway. The thing that I noticed is that the lifters have slightly shallower plungers which will make the pushrods effectively around 1/16th(almost) longer than stock. Will I run into a geometry problem?
My stock pushrods are the factory hardened versions which I do not want to replace unless forced to.So, in conclusion, has anyone had any experience with Summit lifters, and does anyone know the true manufacturer??

hopefully someone has had an experience to share with you, but i would say if nothing else call summit and they should be able to give you the information you need. good luck, itll all be worth it in the end.

Just get some stock replacements from the parts house like NAPA or Car Quest. Check to see who made them and if ya reconize the name like TRW. Don't get any made by lifters-or-us or **** Fu Enterprises.
Chevy dealer has them too and they are as good or better than anything out there.

Beware the federal mogul stock replacement lifters. I seen a set mushroom at the roller shaft area with only 300 #s of spring pressure.
Re: Summit "House Brand" roller lifters anyone?
Back to the original question : has anyone out there had any experience with Summit's stock replacement roller lifters? Does anyone know who the hay makes them? I've emailed Summit several questions and they allowed themselves to answer only the rpm range question.
Also, when I removed my opti, I noticed that the shaft o-rings have disappeared into oblivian. How do I replace them? Do I use two that measure up from the o-ring bin at the parts store, or get part-specific o-rings, or forget about them? I removed the opti cap today and it looks very good inside. Just a little bit of trace oil because the pump shaft seal was leaking for years.

To anwser your questions. Only seen one summit lifter fail out of 10 or 11 sets.
The o-rings can be anyones that fits but i have been using Nylon washers that fit the groves.
