Suddenly running rich after water pump
Suddenly running rich after water pump
I pulled my water pump the other day for replacement and now my car is running so rich it burns my eyes. I replaced the pump and afterwords let it run with the MAS unhooked to check for leaks, could this be part of the cause? Could I have damaged the CTS? There are no codes stored in the computer after disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. I don't understand. I did not get the opti wet and all sensors are connected. I must be missing something.
Re: Suddenly running rich after water pump
Check for a vaccum leak. Maybe the intake elbow isn't on properly?
I had my CTS go bad, and it' didnt throw a code right away. Eventually it did, but at first the car just ran horrible. It would buck and kick to the point of stalling.
Thomas.

Re: Suddenly running rich after water pump
I could not find any vacuum leak at the air tract. The car doesn't buck, but the idle is lower. In January it did start bucking when first started in the morning, but stopped after the weather warmed up. Why would the CTS not throw a code? You would think it would. I reused my old thermostat because it was put in in March. The car doesn't run any hotter or cooler(still 180) after the pump. The only reason I changed the pump was to get rid of unused pipes on the front. I am now running a pump for a 92 vette. I will have to get my hands on a tester to check the CTS.
