I've had my engine taken apart for some time now and the heads are in ohio along with my shortblock. I was gonna just put the heads back on myself and got to thinking the other day....was there any distinguishing marks on the heads so i'll know what bank to put them back on? I figured this was the fastest way to get a good response. Can i tell by the bolt holes er something? Thanks.

 

They can only go on one way.

 

The steam pipe holes will be open on the back of the heads. There will be plugs in the same location in the front. If the heads have been worked on and the plugs removed, then it does not matter. The heads are symmetrical and can be used on either side (with the coolant passage plugs in the correct ends).
