Stupid vortech elbow question.

I know it comes with instructions, but for some reason I'm just not getting this. That hole on the elbow by the throttlebody is for the IAT sensor, right? So my question is do I need to remove that sensor looking thing (for lack of better terms) that's built into my stock elbow, or does the hose to the sensor get threaded into the elbow? Hopefully I haven't totally confused anyone. Thanks for the help.

You will need to remove the IAT sensor and thread it for the threads that are in the elbow using a die set. The thread size is in the intructions. You don't need to worry about using the brass fitting b/c you have a 94 and you don't have the vented opti.

Hope this helps.

Is there a way to remove that sensor without ruining the stock elbow? Thanks.

I went a different route. I capped the hole in the side and moved the IAT into the airpump hole on my SLP CAI. Then used a mini K&N filter on it.

if you cap it ,extend the wires, and move it further down the line away from the motor , you'll get a colder air charge and therefore more gas and better performance. The sensor will think its colder outside and readjust. Your mileage will go down some but....

1msfyter where did you get that chrome piece on the front of the radiator?

Great ideas, guys. I'll definatley look into that. But I'm still unsure about the piece that's built into the stock elbow. Do I need to remove it, and if so how do I do it without ruining the stock elbow? Thanks.

just pull it out of the stock elbow. it's in there pretty snug but it will pop right out. I ran a Vortech for a while before I got my Trick Flow. you don't really have to tap the threads on the sensor. just trim it down a bit and twist it into the Vortech. as long as its snug it'll be jus fine.
