Stupid Question but my life depends on it. HELP

I want to change my fuel filter, I know all the steps and how to change the actual filter.

I just can't find a good way to jack it and where to put the jack stands.

It seems like anywhere I put the jack or the jack stands it i blocking me from reaching or working on the Fuel Filter. Let me know how you guys did it without a lift.

Thanks,

Dan

Jack the pumpkin and put stands under axle tubes.

yep, just jack the car up under the pumpkin and but the jack stands under the axles making sure you don't pinch any lines. Good luck, make sure you have a bucket to catch the extra fuel that will pour out the filter. And also relieve the pressure in the fuel system before you remove the filter.

Both times I have changed my filter, I just used the scissor jack at the driver-side rear jack point. You should have just enough room to slip in between the jack and the tire.

I did it. It was very easy. I just jacked it up front the drivers front jack point and put the jack stand under the front jack stand pad.

I had well enough room to reach it. The hardest part was getting the bracket off and back on.

Thanks,

Dan

The jack stands should just fit on the rear axle tubes outboard of the rear sway bar.

You shouldn't have to take the bracket off, it should swivel and allow the filter to slide out.

You are using two wrenches right? One on the nut, one on the filter.

I had to take off my bracket to get the fuel filter off and back on. It could be the angle that I was looking at the filter.

The PB Blaster is a good start.

I got mine off with a box end on the filter and a line wrench on the fuel line. Which connector is rusted? Make sure you use a line wrench, cuz if you round that fuel line connector off YOU ARE SCREWED and need a new one!

And for whoever was asking about the bracket, I used a really long pair of needle nose pliers to get it off. I just took it off for ease of working really.

Darwin will cure you of that approach eventually.

Not a safe way, don't do it like this. Jack stands on the axle tube, on flat hard ground, unless you're suicidal.

PB Blaster is ok. I prefer Silikroil, from Kano Labs. MUCH better at loosening rusted nuts. Yes, there is a K in the name.

Haha, I have since learned my lesson trust me. I had my front end up on two scissor jacks (on the side of the freeway so I had to make do). And when I was done, I lowered the car to find that on one of the jacks, the big "screw" had backed out about 1/4 inch. Anymore and it would have probably failed. I have 4 jack stands now, and I make good use out of them.

Well...If you have access to air..i would get a air saw..not cut off wheel..cut off wheel will make sparks..ive used air saw on many fuel filters..cut the fuel filter with the line still attached to the nut and then get a socket and a wrench..it should come off no problem...or get wise grips but chances are your going to ruin the line..good luck
