Anyone know if the air filter is the same for a Z28 as a SS. I am planning on going with the Ram Air hood with the SS intake, I have a K&N drop in now, will it work with the new air box? TIA

 

are you buying the ss hood new? because the ram air with the hood comes with a new K@N filter, i forget if there the same size, i dont think they are though, the ram air setup filter is bigger i think

 

K&N doesn't make a filter for Ram Air 96/97SS.
Jeep filter will fit, but box is lousy for sealing.

Holley now has filter that will also fit, but has vertical pleats that offer stiffer filter than the horizontal K&Ns.

 

thats funny because i had a K@N filter for my ram setup before i changed to the LS1 airbox design

 

We may be talking about different things. I talking about my 97SS. K&N doesn't make a filter for it. Advised against using their filter.

Jeep fit so I used it until couple of weeks ago when I bought a Holley Power Shot that fits and will probably work better because of the orientation of the pleats making the filter stiffer.
